Question for Christian Women about dating a man with a sinful past

I was at a workshop a few years ago We had like 3 minutes to tell it. It was amazing to hear that none of us in my small groups had a sexual history that lined up with what the church teaches we should be. Everyone was very accepting and loving as we all knew we didn't have a perfect sexual history. Sexual sins aren't worse than other sins, only adultery is listed in the 10 commandments!

So my advice is don't make your sin bigger than it is. Don't think God can forgive you and He is not going to give grace to others to forgive you. Give God some credit for also working in other people so that they will know how to love. Finally, your sexual sin ended up being you back to God in a way you wouldn't have known God if you have been the goodie two shoes you think you should have been. From what your saying now I think you might have had some self righteousness if you hadn't sinned. Girls would have had more problem with that than the sins you have committed, is my guess.

These are very hopeful words. I agree that fear is not from God.

Dude, that sounds like a crazy awesome workshop. And yes, my sexual sin and addiction did end up bringing me back to God. Without those sins I would be extremely self righteous. However you have done that and I think its great. Don't worry about being rejected, give that to God. But if it will be an ongoing problem for you, I suggest you pray some more and hold off trying to meet anyone right now. Let Jesus heal your heart and don't feel bad about your past. Sometimes our pain and the scars we carry I'm proud of you, hang in there and keep doing good for Jesus!

For me, what I've looked for in regards to a man's past is not what he has or has not done, but more whether or not he takes responsibility for his mistakes without excusing them and whether or not he can show me how he's changed since making those mistakes.
