It actively prohibits my enjoyment of the game. Oct 25, 2, Making it harder to even try content is just another way for them to stretch out what little endgame content there is.

Oct 27, Palm Desert,CA. I think the issue with Nightfall matchmaking is that it does require communication and teamwork just like the raid. These things are a bit harder to come by with matchmaking.

Destiny 2 doesn’t have raid matchmaking because Bungie want a “welcoming experience”

I don't understand it for the raid either honestly. Why would more options be bad for anyone involved? If you still want a dedicated group, other likeminded people will be using LFG too. Let people that wanna just play the raid use matchmaking. It's not one or the other. Oct 27, 3, The true problem is that the raid design is not really made for a fps.

Destiny 2 doesn’t have raid matchmaking because Bungie want a “welcoming experience” | PCGamesN

FPS raids need to be big firefights that are less complex but just more fighting. Its lazy to make pattern based mini-games that equal the raid that end up being more frustrating than fun. The absolutely absurd part of all this is that they have the gameplay down pat but dont use it to its fullest extent. The two best strikes in d2 seem to take this approach with boss fights I just dont understand why this was not implemented across the board. Just make raids a bigger extension of the game itself.

Not a game about memorizing patterns which cause an issue with timing resulting in a glitchy mess. Make them huge levels, not this artificial stop gap 3,4,5 encounters. Oct 26, 4, I honestly find the chat window in D2 to be atrocious when it comes to actually letting you know you have a message.

On console you could make the argument since it's voice-only, but on PC with text chat there's absolutely zero reason not to have it. Lord Brady Banned Member. Oct 26, 8, Bungie is almost Nintendo-tier when it comes to online related decisions. Yep, they make you sit in a queue and don't allow you to do anything else while you wait.

Carthago Delenda Est Banned Member. Oct 28, 3, Oct 26, 1, I can understand Bungie not having matchmaking for certain content FFXIV has insane queue times depending on the type of content you want to do and what class you are, GW2 wholesale doesn't allow them for things like fractals and raids. I can not understand them not having a built-in LFG option. Just let people advertise their groups with stipulations i. Proper MMOs have been doing this just fine for a long time.

Oct 29, Bungie has a brilliant strategy for this where they tell the Destiny community that the endgame content is just too hard and complex for randomly matchmade players to succeed, and then the community gets to feel really elite by defending it to anyone who claims otherwise. I'm kindof kidding, but it's only a minor exaggeration of how insidious I think Bungie has become with its messaging and community management.

Parroting everyone else so far in that there is no way for matchmaking to succeed for the raid unless they change the raid design.

Absolutely No Plans to Add Raid Matchmaking for Destiny - The Know

I think a LFG tool similar to that in FF XIV would work though, where you can post that you are looking for a group ingame and other groups could chose to take you, but they could also see if you've done it before, if you have voice chat etc. Nightfall though, especially with current modifiers can and should have matchmaking. Or it should be given modifiers and aspects that actually make it require coordination. Right now nightfalls are just glorified strikes, and are actually easier to complete than some strikes because you don't reset the boss if your whole team dies.

Oct 30, Arkage User requested ban Member. Anyone making the argument that jumping through extra hoops provides a layer of "vetting" that Bungie could not otherwise provide with their own UI is still ultimately claiming that Bungie is just too lazy to do it right. Which is in fact the case. Bungie could've easily worked out a matchmaking system for NF and Raids that has layers of vetting, but instead they want people to do it on their own through a myriad of 3rd party websites and barebones systems on bungie. Maybe it'll get smoother over time but right now it's ridiculous having to add people to my friends list to party up with them.

I've joined both awesome and horrible pickup groups through lfg sites. All bungie needs to do is literally give matchmaking a level cap and a mic requirement and it would already be more elaborate than what current LFG sites do. SMH that people still make excuses for this.

Oct 26, 2, When new content drops, the Raid for example, don't have it in matchmaking right away but as gear gets better they open it up for randoms. Or when the new raid drops, open the old one up. Or they can just have them open from the start.

I know, it's tough content that randoms will probably never beat without communication but you know what? At least you have a chance to get a good group of people and maybe beat it. Again, like XIV, if you queue for harder content with randoms, you may beat your head against the wall trying to beat it for hour or you may get a good group and beat it no issue.

At least you have the option. There is absolutely no excuse for Nightfall though. Oct 26, Necessarily, the design of the raids doesn't need to be changed, but information is often provided to players in obtuse or ways where they can't see exactly what things do which is an inherent limitation of the fact the game is a FPS.

I didn't do the last Destiny 1 raid but did Taken King and didn't find it particularly difficult once I understood things but the way information is presented in a "blind" run is rather lacking. It's clear Bungie kind of has a reverence for older WoW raid design and the like where it's meant to mystify and surprise you with how you do it, but MMOs have come a long way in regards to how they present information about encounters to the players.

Now I'm not defending Bungie's decision for not including matchmaking, but modern WoW raid design is the last thing anyone should be looking at for inspiration. There are mods out there that tell you everything right down to when and how a boss is going to attack and what you should do to avoid said attacks. It is not fun at all. Much prefer designers letting players figure stuff out themselves. That's not what I'm implying at all, they shouldn't look at WoW at all and I called out the effective requirement of Deadly Boss Mods and Blizzard's lack of consistency in visual markers for WoW.

Not to mention the raids are on the PTR for what feels like forever before they're deployed onto live servers so there's no such thing as mystery in regards to them.
